TeamCuzz falls

TeamCuzz succumbed to El Rilfrens in their first pre-season friendly, losing 4-3 in a light-hearted game played with the controversial Jabulani. Goals scored by Shahrudin, Imran & Haikal didn't prove enough in a match where they never led despite dominating for most parts of the game. Misplaced passes and lack of understanding is uncharacteristic for the TeamCuzz of today, but it was prevalent and to some, expected, considering that the team had a month-long layoff from football.

Khairil was clearly the most outstanding player of the match, as seen with his tireless runs that created ample of chances in the 1st half. However, the rest of TeamCuzz seemed to play the game to get match fitness rather than the victory, untill it was way too late. With some of their players still out on holiday (thinking they need the extra rest after the World Cup), TeamCuzz boasted 2 youths from their academy - Naiim Ahmad & Haziq Sulaiman. Both came out of the match with credit, with Naiim showing sufficient confidence and reflexes in between the sticks and Haziq proving his versatility at playing in midfield and defence. Both have been touted to have bright futures at TeamCuzz.

The game was played, the game was lost, but lessons were definitely learnt. For one, the opponents seemed very comfortable on the ball, making us chase around like wild geese with their simple short passing. Another lesson learnt, never park your vehicle near private properties with a single white line.
