Actions Explained

Amidst the media frenzy that is surrounding the club, TeamCuzz's spokesperson has issued a statement to address the situation.

"For a start, we would like to apologize to all parties concerned for all the trouble they had to go through. As the saga rambles on and we await the decision from the organisers, let me attempt to explain why we did what we did.

Many might interprete it is a lack of sportsmanship on our part. And we sure were aware of that. However, had TeamCuzz really been unsportsman-like, we would neither have cheered for FM after the game at MJC, nor would we have shook FM players' hands to congragulate them after the game at Springfield. Credit to FM for beating us in both legs (not many teams can boast that record!). Cheating was also never the main intention behind what our Captain said in his post-match interview (we have removed that portion to avoid any further misinterpretations). Rather, we were just trying to warn FM of the complaint having lodged an interim report at that time.

It was gamesmanship that was the driving factor behind all of this, as our Manager has explained. Truth be told, TeamCuzz had plans of lodging the complaint regardless of the result at Springfield. If things had gone to plan, TeamCuzz would have cancelled out the 3 points they lost to FM at MJC and then gain an added advantage through this option. It was nothing more than an insurance policy for TeamCuzz. We had to explore this avenue while it was still within our reach having played both matches against FM so early in the season. Otherwise, we would have needed to rely on favours from other teams. Then again, having played all other teams (except Supernova) before, we realize that FMFC's impressive level of football can probably only be matched by 2 or so other teams within the division, the most notable being Sufi (no disrespect intended to all other teams in anyway).

Would other teams have done the same? That boils down to their own ambitions. But do know TeamCuzz had twice been at the receiving end of complaints in our 1st 2 seasons in this league, and we managed to prevail from those without getting points docked both times. So there are teams out there who would have taken the same route. We were just exercising the same rights that were once exercised upon us. What we do know is that as much as other teams might criticize TeamCuzz for doing so, at the bottom-most part of the bottom-most part of their hearts, they know TeamCuzz are doing them a favour. An enormous one. Or at least attempting to.

The verdict will be out sometime soon. Whether FM lose points is secondary. At least we know we have explored an avenue that was staring at us while we still had the chance to do so. And we shall move on with no regrets whatever the outcome may be. Once again, we would like to apologize to all parties concerned for the trouble caused and any unintended accusations that came through this whole saga. We wish FM the best of luck for the verdict as well as future games (on second thought, prolly not that much for the latter)."
