As TeamCuzz prepares for their penultimate match of the season against FC Premier, one of their own is busy making preparations for his own big day. Syed Naufal, TeamCuzz's Striker-turned-Right Winger-turned-Right Back will be tying the knot this weekend.
Naufal has represented TeamCuzz since her inception in 2005. Then, TeamCuzz was jerseyless (now we have 4 sets of jerseys and 2 polo-T), and had to settle to play on a free, pathetic surface that was once the breeding ground for chessboards (now we refuse to play on a non-astro turf pitch). Despite his 2-year long loan spell with FC Pencak Silat, he went on to pick up a total of 26 caps, scoring 3 goals in the process.
He scored his first TeamCuzz goal in a crushing defeat to Team Yusry at yet another pathetic pitch in Tampines. He showcased his class enroute to scoring that one, racing clear to beat the offside trap before slotting home comfortably. He then scored a brace in one of TeamCuzz's pre-season matches played at MacPherson Secondary earlier this year, the second of which was a wonderful acrobatic strike. Despite his on-pitch excellence (in particular his takraw acrobatics), it is his off-pitch character that has shone through. Of the lot, his humility and calm nature are endearing features which many can only dream of having.
TeamCuzz wishes Naufal a blissful marriage. At the same time, we welcome his wife-to-be as the latest member of TeamCuzz's WAC. TeamCuzz has been invited to the wedding ceremony held at Pasir Ris Blk 473 this Sunday. Plans are underway for the team to don their black TeamCuzz polo-T and gather by 1500hrs to synchronise with the arrival of the couple at the said vicinity. It is hoped that TeamCuzz can turn up in numbers to show support to one of our own. After all, we are more than just a social soccer team. More details will be revealed at Mak Andak's later tonight.
