Soccer in Short

TeamCuzz beats Pirates - If the ball could speak, if it really could, it will choose not to. For if it did, if it really did, it would probably get scolded for no apparent reason. That was the order of the day on Saturday. With a referee so stern, TeamCuzz (were compelled to) put up their best behaviour yet. No argument against the referee's call. Zip. And that certainly aided in convincingly dispatching the rather rowdy Pirates, 6 -3. Despite that, they still had to be at the top of their game against the more robust Pirates. Although their passing game was not at its very best, they were full of running and ideas. Most importantly, quality finishing was in abundance, courtesy of mesmerizing strikes by Shahrudin & Shukur on either side of the interval, and opportunistic strikes by Khairil, Hyder & Amin. The latter, together with custodian Edmund (aka Ah Seng), were making their full-team debut. They certainly prevailed with flying colours, with the 'Manager' expecting "more of the same" from his duo winter signing throughout the season.

The best that came up from the match was the attendance. Labelling it as a welcomed headache, Caretaker Manager Shahrudin named 2 different sides for the 2 halves. With the liberty to do so, he managed to get the best out of all his players (in particular in the aspect called fitness), with totally no one reserving any left by the end of their respective halves. On top of the astounding on-field attendance, TeamCuzz also had plenty of presence beyond the pitch. TeamCuzz's Owner, Mr. Jan, alongside Chairman Ahmad Jan (& wife), & Managing Director Ayub Daud Khan (& wife) were present to lend their support to TeamCuzz. An unknown Camera Lady and 3 budding youngsters were also by the sidelines.

TeamCuzz wins Soccervaganza - A small fraction of TeamCuzz formed a team at the very last minute and won a 4-aside tourney organised by Darul Aman Mosque. The 6 - Riduwan, Shahrudin, Saifuddin, Shahril, Syafiq & Faizul won for themselves medals, a ball and prize money worth $60. Congratulations to them. Hopefully, the winning feeling can be translated to the rest of TeamCuzz.

Manager & Wife touches down safely - After a month-long managerial stint at Al-Hilal, Manager Zulkhairi Ahmad (& wife) has safely landed home. When interviewed, the Manager only replied "Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah." TeamCuzz players are panicking to brush up on their Arabic language with the high possibility of future briefings being conducted in that language.

Cagey affair in TeamCuzz's Kickabout - As planned for the winter break, TeamCuzz had a kickabout at Kallang Cage last Friday. 12 players turned up to sweat it out and enjoyed an enjoyable 2 hours of football. However, fitness took its toll on the players and the tempo of the game slowed down as time progressed. Nevertheless, TeamCuzz reserves special appreciation to Faisal Wahab for organising the event.

Barcelona, Chelsea kings of Spain, England - Barcelona luckily brushed aside arch-rivals Real Madrid 8-5 while Chelsea convincingly beat Manchester United 2-0 to claim the title of kings in the lan version of their respective countries. The best goal of the night certainly had to be from Sergio Ramos, who scored a free-kick from beyond the halfway line. A ridiculous goal from birthday boy Shah32.

New Jersey Numbers Issued - With the entrance & exit of some players in preparation for the new season, TeamCuzz has issued players with new numbers. Although most of the players retain the same numbers, there are slight changes being made. The new list is shown on the left of the screen. The purpose of this remains the same as last season, that is to give players a sense of ownership of the team. Players need to take note that these numbers are allocated for TeamCuzz's Yellow jersey (due to limited black jerseys available).

Friendly Arranged - Courtesy of TeamCuzz's very own friendly Treasurer Khairil Aziz, a friendly has been arranged for this Sunday. The purpose is to get TeamCuzz's momentum going for the new season while also marking a swansong for TeamCuzz's Blue FBT jersey. There are also plans for a post-match activity but that has remained unconfirmed till today. The Match though is confirmed and the details are listed below.
