TeamCuzz Bounces Back

TeamCuzz bounced back from the demoralising defeat last week to conjure up a fabulous display of football, 2 excellently executed goals and a cleansheet. Although TeamCuzz's wastefulness & tendency to overplay restricted the scoreline from going beyond belief, they should be happy to get back to winning ways.

"Perfect response from everyone!" said the Manager. He, along with stand-in goalie Syed Iskandar, paid the highest price for the ticket to enter the 'stadium' despite having very little of the ball. TeamCuzz reserves the highest credit for their respective commitment.

TeamCuzz dominated the game from the kickoff whistle of the referee, who with the exception of the tattoes on his arm and poor eyesight, resembled TeamCuzz's founder Mr Jan. TeamCuzz imposed themselves on Team Fugu, restricting play in the opponent's half for almost the entire 40 minutes. There were instances where Team Fugu did spring surprise attacks which seemed pretty dangerous but the defence stood firm. The opponents even had the cheek to test TeamCuzz's 5th choice goalie from afar, but little did they know that he is as competent with his hands as with his dancing feet.

After a few efforts on goal, TeamCuzz finally made it count. Shukur controlled the ball expertly in the area before dispatching a shot into the bottom corner. It capped an excellent return for the stand-in Captain, who churned the fire from his hand to his performance. TeamCuzz continued probing for goals but to no avail. The closest and furthest chances in the 1st half came from another returning striker, Joseph. The former saw his header from a cornerkick being rebounded of the inner post and safely into the arms of the thankful goalie, while the latter saw his stinging shot presumably aimed at goal ending up nearer to the corner flag.

He was not to be denied a goal in the 2nd half though. After being unfairly denied a penalty, having his goal-bound shot saved point-blank and his perfectly taken freekick ruled out, Joseph finally found his shooting range. Twisting a couple of defenders, he took a glance at goal and let fly from outside the area. The power of the shot made the ball swerve right at the end, deceiving the goalie as it ends up at the back of the net. A quality goal from a quality player!

On a day when the weather was perfect, TeamCuzz did show alot of heart. Syukri stood out the most with his tireless runs on the right side of the pitch throughout the entire game. TeamCuzz need a similar type of desire from everyone in the following weeks, beginning with the return leg against Team Fugu at Jurong Stadium this Saturday.
