TeamCuzz 1: FMFC 2 - Post-game Interview

TeamCuzz.com caught up with TeamCuzz's Captain to get a scoop of what went on in their latest match against FMFC.

Reporter: So what happened out there?
Imran: Well, we failed to rise to the big occasion, succumbing to a 2-1 league defeat to a fellow title contender. It is not uncommon, so I would say it wasn't that surprising, but definitely disappointing.

Riduan & Nabil contesting for best 'shot' of the game.
Reporter: Could you elaborate on the goals scored by FMFC?
Imran: The 2 goals were sucker punches, really. The 1st came against the run of play, when we were gaining momentum in the opening exchanges. FMFC somehow got a corner and their centre half scored with a diving header. I was personally disappointed with the goal as I was closest to the man, so I do take the blame for that. That said, I was supposed to be 'marking' both their centre halves who were charging in from outside the box so I don't really know what more I could have done. Perhaps someone should have taken charge of the area - goalkeeper, centre half, myself prolly??

And once the 1st came in, FMFC got into their stride and we were forced to defend. We did very well in this regard till their striker managed to find a hole in our defence, which subsequently led to their winger scoring what turned out to be the eventual winner.

Reporter: Was there anything positive that you could derive out of the game?
Imran: We can take heart in the performance of our young forward Syukri, who showed a lot of passion and determination to chase what seemed like a lost cause. Many a times, Syukri will drift in and out of games like a lost soul, but I certainly did not see that happening in the previous game. With him showing such maturity and keeping his temper in check, I have no doubt he will be a quality player in no time.

We are also happy by the fact that Haidhar still played for us despite his other commitments, Naufal's consolation goal at the stroke of full time to open his personal account for the season, Shukur's return to improve the link-up play that has often been missing for TeamCuzz this season, and the continued support, presence and understanding from the likes of Syafiq, Ali and Zulkhairi.

Syukri's determination to reach a mere hopeful ball led to Naufal's consolation goal.

Reporter: Any negatives to share then?
Imran: We lost to a good, formidable outfit and that is that. We have learnt that we need to show a whole lot more composure for these games and prolly prepare better for it. And most importantly, increase support for each other.

But the most negative thing that could be derived are the injuries we picked up during the game. Shukur had a bloodied nose and now looks like a post-fight Lennox Lewis, while Syazrin aggravated his past knee injury and could be out for sometime.

The unfortunate injuries picked up.

Reporter: Anything else to say?
Imran: Well, to end this off, I would like to mention that TeamCuzz will always be an entity that serves to bring a group of cousins together for a common cause. We have set our goals for the season, and have committed to living up to it. A loss to FMFC is definitely huge as it now ensures they are now the clear favorites at the rate they are going. But it is not the end. We will just need to focus on our own games and let the rest of the teams do their bit.

We are a good team, better than most, and simply the best to me.
