TeamCuzz nicks it!

A sigh of relief was a common sight at the final whistle as TeamCuzz left it late to beat Redsaga II 3-2. "The difference between getting the points today as compared to those that we dropped before was the determination to fight on!" said ex-gaffer Zulkhairi after the match.

TeamCuzz started brightly, with the first goal coming in as early as the 7th minute. Sources mentioned that it was a good team goal which was expertly finished by Syukri. However, TeamCuzz let their guard down and allowed Redsaga II to score 2 soft goals before the interval. Knowing that dropping points was just not an option against a dark horse and likely 'spoiler' and decider of the league title, TeamCuzz knew they had to show character and determination in search of an early equaliser and the winning goal.

They did just that. 2 of their team's playmakers combined effectively for the equaliser, which ended up with Haidhar smashing home from long range for his forth of the season. Redsaga II started to feel the pressure from then on and were only reduced to attacking on the counter as TeamCuzz continued to ask all the questions. After a barrage of attacks, Faizal finally scored the winner with 4 minutes to spare, finishing off clinically with his head after a good cross from Syukri. Redsaga II almost had the last laugh when their left winger struck the crossbar right at the death. And then, the beautiful sound of the referee's whistle was heard. And the sight of relief from the lads in khaki.

In his post-match interview lasting from Tampines to Punggol, Shahrudin mentioned - "We could and should have won more comfortably, but at the end of the day, I am pleased to get the 3 points that I promised. Riduan was the outstanding performer of the day, with his effective marshalling of defence providing the stability that allowed TeamCuzz to push forward. He formed a good partnership with TeamCuzz's returning centreback, Muhammad. That said, I would like to seek the understanding of those who didn't manage to get any game time, as once again, we were let down by circumstances. I assure you I will put you in sooner rather than later."

Bearing that in mind, TeamCuzz will need to put in a more convincing performance the next time they take to the field to face old foes in Premier FC at Orchid Park. Otherwise, they have to turn to character again, which they now know they have in themselves if they search deep enough.
