TeamCuzz Sweeps Aside Sengkang Rangers

TeamCuzz strengthened their title credentials with an impressive 11-2 win over Sengkang Rangers. With Sengkang Rangers posting good results at the start of the season, it must be said that TeamCuzz were caught surprised by the outcome of the game. Every single TeamCuzz player was excellent in their role, hence helping the team to produce one of the results of the season. It was even more special considering the win was witnessed by TeamCuzz's #1 supporter, Mr Ismail Jan, and TeamCuzz's latest signing, Anuar.

TeamCuzz reserves special mention to MoTM Haikal, who scored the final 6 goals of the match, hence breaking the record for most goals scored in a match. Credit should also be given to Captain Shahrudin for his impressive perfomance capped with a hat-trick, Syukri & Abdullah for stepping in their roles seamlessly when called upon, and Zulkhairi for tinkering with the formation.

"We knew the opponents were dangerous and at the same time, leak plenty of goals. I made the decision to use this formation to play to our team's strength, and it certainly paid off," said the Player/Manager, beaming with delight.

The game was closer than the result might suggest, at least for the 1st half. Shahrudin drew first blood when he converted from the spot after being unfairly pushed from behind. Despite TeamCuzz's dominance, Rangers fought back strongly and was rewarded when a Seydou Keita lookalike produced a venomous shot into the roof of the net. Rather than be mesmerized by that goal, TeamCuzz went straight for the offensive again and went in front after Shahrudin latched on to a pass from Imran before rounding the goalkeeper for his second. He then completed his hat-trick at the end of the first half with a delightful corner, which the opposing goalie could only parry pass the goal line.

After some changes were made to the team, the Manager also reverted the formation to the usual 4-4-2 to accomodate wingers in the team. It was a good move as both Faisal and Haikal were at their rampaging best down the flanks. They swiftly got into their groove, and produced several chances at the start of the 2nd half. One move led to the 4th goal for TeamCuzz, after Joseph converted from a rebound. Rangers refused to back down and narrowed the margin immediately with a shot from outside the penalty area. TeamCuzz knew that the next goal was crucial, and they duely delivered with Faisal getting on the scoresheet after the goalie could only parry Haikal's goalbound shot.

It was then that the floodgates truly opened, with TeamCuzz, particularly Haikal, capitalising on Rangers almost non-existent desire to play. The winger scored the next 6 goals, all looking like a carbon copy of each other. Courtesy of through balls down the left, Haikal use his pace to race clear of the opposing defenders and slotted home via the near and far post. It was such a performance that TeamCuzz will need if they were to spring a surprise against Blue Oysters next week.

TeamCuzz are now joint-top with Blue Oysters, although the latter are ahead thanks to a better goal difference. Captain Shahrudin has fired the first salvo in his bid to rally TeamCuzz into recording the win that will prove priceless. It is hoped that every TeamCuzz player shares a similar view for the clash and react positively.

Next week, 20 Feb, at Jurong Stadium, will stage the clash of the titans. Coincidentally, it pits the best defence against the best offence. Something's gotta give.
